STEP 4: ADD THE FINISHING TOUCHES TO THE FRAME.

To complete the metal frame, match up the hole patterns of both halves of the legs and rails, and attach the pieces together by inserting 1/2-inch carriage bolts through the predrilled holes and securing the bolts with one lock washer and one nut per hole. Make sure the nut and washer sit inside the channel with the bolt head on the outside of the leg. Once all of the bolts and nuts are in place, tighten all of the nuts and bolts using the 7/16-inch ratcheting socket wrench, making sure the bolt heads sit flush on the legs. Be careful to not over-tighten.

Place the 2 × 4 center support beam into the center of the top short rails. Do this by putting the 2 × 4 in horizontally and twisting it so the slots cut in the beam fit snuggly on the bends of the short rails.
